The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) governs employers engaged in interstate commerce or with greater than $500,000 in business each year. Nonexempt employees are entitled to receive overtime pay for any hours worked beyond 40 in one workweek. An employee’s overtime pay rate is one and one half times their regular rate of pay.
